Abstract
The paper will describe the challenges in developing a strong market for LTC insurance in the UK, and illustrate how lessons can be learnt from the US experience. In particular, we will describe the extent to which the US has been able to address issues such as: • Consumer attitudes and lack of awareness
• Difficulties in developing successful distribution
• Managing the risks
The paper will combine evidence from the US market with supporting statistics and analysis of UK regulations and the insurance market.
