This first of its kind conference served to fill an important gap in the field by providing a specific platform for leading researchers and policy makers in the long term care area to exchange ideas and experiences about how best to how to organize, deliver, fund and regulate services, and ultimately about how to improve the lives of people with long term care needs. The emphasis of the event was on evaluative research with clear impact on policy.
